During my weeks holiday a new Commissioner of the Metropolitain Police was appointed. Needless to say that a very early supporter of Kate and Gerry in Liverpool is not the best choice to guarantee an independent "review" of the case.

Due to work issues and a lack of trust in the British police in general I will for now take a backseat in the case and reduce my efforts to that of a well informed onlooker. Until some obvious progress is being made or Goncalo Amaral drags them to the witness stand I will leave you with my theory. Please do continue to discuss and question it. Preferably with evidence from the files.

Bye for now and may the (proper) force be with us...

  1. “Self-love is a balloon filled with wind, from which storms burst forth when one makes a puncture in it.”

    Keep the force Johanna!

One day, the balloon will be punctured.

  2. Well done Johanna! You deserve a break.

Yours is the best analysis of the case I have read anywhere.

I think when you put your analysis together with the huge number of significant verbal slips on camera, you get v. close to the truth.

There is only so much you can do when professional journalists cravenly fail to do their job. I am completely disenchanted with the UK press and judiciary as a result of this case.

  3. With the new top copper in the UK trying to discourage leaking of any information and threatening the few proper journos left, I don't see much chance for this case to ever get a proper review. Interesting though to see how they are going to provide a patsy to give it a final closing.

  4. Regrettable - we must not give up.
Thanks for all your efforts and work by now.

  5. Nobody is giving up, it is just that at this moment there is not much left to do. I might turn the blog into something more voluminous and compact if time permits...

  6. It would be great if you return with some more thoughts in due course Johanna. BTW who do you think will be the "patsy"?

  7. Hallo Johanna,

ich denke auch, dass du mit deinen Vermutungen sehr sehr nah an die Realität heran gekommen bist.

    Liebe Grüße Sibylle

  8. Am waiting with keen interest as to what the Scotland Yard "review" reveals. Although have little hope that its outcome will bring forth anything new surrounding the case. Think SY will come up with "something"? Not least, to justify the £3.5m cost of the enquiry. But in the overall scale of things it will be insignificant. Maybe some "old" lead?
Might even be for SY a bit of a "poisoned chalice" asked to carry out the review. Knowing that if they say something bad about the Mccanns they will be pilloried?
I hope i am wrong and the review is transparent and in-depth. As a reviewing body they surely must consider all scenarios? Including those such as Johanna has portrayed which are very viable as to what exactly happened regarding Madeleine's disappearance.

Whilst writing, think SY, could have saved themselves a huge amount of money hiring the services of the likes of Johanna, Pat Brown etc. to review the case?! Rather than 30 detectives spending there time on a case, when there time could be much better spent elsewhere?
